The Miss Earth South Africa is a programme that aims to empower young South African women with the knowledge and platform to create a sustainable difference in our plight to combat the destruction of our natural heritage.
The event helps create awareness of our environment, wildlife and the conservation of our natural legacy in South Africa, and ultimately the preservation of Mother Earth.http://www.missearthsa.co.za/
Kim Rivalland from the Western Cape was crowned Miss Earth 2011, and will go on to represent South Africa in the Miss Earth Pageant held in the Philippines next year. All of the finalists work on green initiatives within their communities and work hard to educate and involve people in caring for the environment and making a lasting contribution to the future of Earth!
Overall an exciting night out for The Earth Organization, but more importantly the plight of our planet and conservation of our forests took centre stage. And the take home message at the end of the evening was “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the next best time is NOW!” A Chinese Proverb.
