Educational tours to COP17 / CCR Exhibition
The Earth Organization recently conducted educational tours to the CCR Exhibition which took place as part of the COP17 summit, held in Durban, South Africa.
School learners from the South Durban Basin, an area largely affected by industrial pollution, were bussed to the exhibition and given an educational briefing on Pollution, its effect on our environment and the solutions they can implement at home. The Earth Organization printed this information on 10 colourful, door size posters, giving the learners a life size experience. Once they had finished their briefing they took part in an interactive recycling sorting demonstration, which gave practical application to the lessons they had just learnt.
The learners were also toured through the exhibition, visiting various stands; including the worm farm, South African Weather Bureau, WWF and many other exciting and educational exhibits.
Over 8 days we successfully toured approximately 800 learners through the exhibit. The Earth Organization had fantastic feedback from staff and learners who visited our educational stand and all felt it was a most productive and educational outing for them.
We would like to thank all our staff who worked tirelessly in the infamous Durban heat to ensure the success of these tours!
